Forced Exit

" Forced Exit is about the struggle to escape enclosure only to find yourself back inside, a cycle of confinement that cannot be escaped, similar to the myth of Sisyphus. Freedom is a temporary willful suspension of disbelief, on closer inspection of all the freedoms of life there is a wider constraint. The hands represent the self-imposed illusion of control one feels from the struggle to exit captivity however they are not breaking through, there is no control to be gained. Only the hands of the subject are shown so that the viewer may decide if they wish to see it from the first person or the third. Does the viewer wish to feel free for a moment, or do they think the struggle is futile and not worth the effort? Meaning can be found both in resistance and acceptance."
